What To Feed Your Rabbit


Rabbit food can be found nearly anywhere. It usually comes in the form of pellets. These rabbit food pellets are made of hays and added nutrients t0 keep your rabbit healthy.

Feed your rabbit different types of loose grass hay, in addition to the pellets. You can consult the local veterinarian to find the right kind of hay for your little bunny. Alfalfa is great for rabbit food. Oat hay is another common food among rabbit owners. Rabbits will eat grass but don’t feed them lawn clippings

Growing up, we fed our rabbits dandelion weeds. This rabbit food is free. Weeds from the garden are great for your bunny. Rabbits love weeds and it adds even more diversity to their diet. Give them a large handful every day. Make sure that they are washed thoroughly. Pesticides and other sprays can harm your rabbit.

Rabbits love produce. Feed them lettuces and other leafy greens. Asparagus is a good occasional treat. Grape leaves are tasty for your rabbit as well. Kale is a great thing to feed your rabbit.

Rabbits love fruit. Some of the rabbit food fruits include melons, apples, apricots and peaches, and starfruit. Make sure that any seeds or pits are removed, as they often contain harmful chemicals and toxins.

Even though there is a lot of plants that are great for rabbit food, there are others that are not. A lot of flower species aren’t good for rabbit food. Daffodils, azaleas, anemones, buttercups, and crocuses are just a few that are bad for your bunny. Don’t feed your rabbit tomato leaves. In my experience, walnut leaves are also toxic to rabbits. As a rule of thumb, if you aren’t sure it is safe, don’t feed it to your bunny. If it can make a person sick, it is not rabbit food.
